Casa Marea

A coastal residential study exploring the relationship between terracotta surfaces, movement and the open sea.

Casa Marea

Marea House is a self-initiated residential study exploring the relationship between architectural circulation and the coastal landscape.

Stairs are treated not simply as functional connections between levels, but as part of the visual relationship with the sea. Stepped terracotta walls, parapets and openings create shifting views and moments of pause as one moves through the architecture.

Rather than attempting to explain the entire building in a single frame, the visualization focuses on selected moments of occupation. Warm mineral surfaces contrast with the cooler tones of the sea, while human presence introduces scale and a quiet sense of everyday life.

The series approaches the project through movement, pause and horizon rather than a conventional hero view.

Purpose

To explore architectural circulation as more than a functional system, using movement and level changes to frame the landscape and shape spatial experience.

Visual decisions

Rather than showing the building in its entirety, the compositions focus on selected architectural moments defined by stepped walls, stairs and human movement. The large expanse of sea is deliberately used as negative space, balancing the visual weight of the warm terracotta volumes.
Human figures do more than establish scale. They make circulation visible. The first image describes the relationship between several levels, while the second moves closer to a single moment, turning the architecture into a more personal experience.

Outcome

A restrained, editorial series where architecture, human presence and the sea are connected through colour, circulation and framing rather than formal spectacle.
